October is when Victoria will celebrate and promote the achievements and opportunities provided by telehealth, during Telehealth Awareness Month #telehealthaware #telehealthawareness

Health services and other telehealth-related organisations are getting on board and supporting Telehealth Awareness Month by nominating a week ore more in October to focus on promoting telehealth #telehealthawarenessweek #TAW

Telehealth Awareness Month is an opportunity to spread the word about the many benefits of telehealth for consumers and the benefits to health service delivery, and to celebrate the particular achievements and ongoing opportunities of providing care over distance.

The aims of Telehealth Awareness Month are to raise awareness and increase the use of telehealth-delivered services by:

  • encouraging consumers to ask if their care can be delivered via telehealth
  • encouraging clinicians to consider when telehealth is an option for their patients.

To support the broader telehealth community in Victoria you are encouraged to

  • Participate in the discussions on this forum
  • Share any resources or templates that you develop, so that others can use them
  • Share your ideas for activities and promotions
  • Share your stories and case studies
  • Use the hashtags – and promote your own and others’ activities via social media

Telehealth Awareness Month 2023

For a unified voice, jurisdictions are encouraged to embrace the theme of Telehealth: enabling sustainable health care – highlighting the role of telehealth in:

  • Enabling equitable consumer access to high quality health services closer to home … meaning less time away from community, work and school.
  • Supporting clinicians to access peer support and upskilling … to increase skill, reduce isolation and increase workforce retention.
  • Enabling healthcare providers to collaborate to deliver high quality, integrated care … regardless of where the consumer in located.
  • Improving health system efficiency by optimising workforce capability to deliver care virtually … from or to any location.
  • Reducing the environmental footprint of providing health care … reduced clinician and consumer travel means fuel savings and less carbon emissions.
